Sooo, I am Naa Adjeley, a former MYP student (thank God), and I made it. Lets be real, one of the most difficult aspects of MYP is the lack of information, not having past papers, details from previous students about E-assessments or PP or IDU( after 2 years, I still do not understand what exactly it is..lol), so if you are struggling, I get it, I really do. Reddit or Youtube doesn't offer much help but let me tell you, MYP is not a joke. If you have the mindset it wouldn't help you, you would hate it and if you hate it, it would hate you back. I don't know if I am in the best position to give advice, butttt, here are some takes from MYP.
Actually enjoy what you are doing, like seriously, even if you hate half of your subjects or the topic, find a way to make it creative and intellectual for you. It really makes learning seem less of a burden and its easier to understand the topics.
Enjoy your personal project and if you are behind, catch up, cause a rushed PP is equivalent to a 4.
The MYP textbook doesn't help anybody unless its Math
Manage your time properly
Reach out to your teachers, I was the girl who followed teachers around crying about their grade. But it helped, they always encouraged me to do better and be better
Don't waste your free periods
I can not stress this enough, practice and really put yourself in real-life situations.
Learn to type Lang Lit assignments without spelling check or one of those fancy software thingys that correct everything, on the day of the E-assessment, you would slack.
For chemistry, work on that Criterion B and C, also, read a lot of science related topics ranging from climate change, green energy to the COVID-19 pandemic.
For language acquisition, don't leave it until last minute, actually practice your vocabulary.
This is a bit of a cliche, but focus less on the grades and look at the comments, cry if you fail but try to improve and move on. Your worth is not defined by your grades but that is not excuse to have the I-dont-care attitude or the-world-is-ending-because-i failed attitude.
I wish you all the best in your MYP endeavours. It somewhat prepares you for IB. So yh, be chill. Do more and study hard. All the best!!
